Two Club teen members (Antonio & Jaylynn) from the Glasgow and Paducah Clubs were invited to attend the Kentucky First Lady Glenna Bevin's Youth Voice Council at the Governor’s Mansion in mid-May.
Special thanks to Kentucky Youth Advocates
(KYA) for helping organize and plan this event alongside the First Lady’s office.
The main goal of this new endeavor is to engage teens from across the Commonwealth to voice their thoughts on issues/policies affecting teens today and come up with ideas of what changes can be made and then take action to make that change occur. The Council will potentially consist of around 20-25 teens from various organizations across Kentucky and will plan to meet together face-to-face throughout the year.
This is the first time a First Lady of Kentucky has ever created a youth council. The First Lady’s top priority is child & family advocacy with the key issues being: child abuse prevention, family preservation, and foster care & adoption.
