In collaboration with the Kentucky Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs, the Kentucky Area Council hosted two days of events for the Kentucky Youth of the Year events on March 7 & 8, 2017 in Lexington and Frankfort, KY. Special thanks to Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Kentucky Medicaid for once again being the Presenting Sponsor for the entire two days of events.

Since 1947, Youth of the Year has been Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s premier recognition program, celebrating the extraordinary achievements of Club members. Club members who earn the Youth of the Year title embody the core values of the Boys & Girls Club: leadership service, academic excellence, and healthy lifestyles. They exemplify the critical impact that Boys & Girls Clubs have on the lives of young people.

Local Clubs recognize members ages 14 to 18 as Youth of the Year who participate in state competitions. State winners each receive a $5,000 scholarship and advance to regional competitions. Because of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Kentucky Medicaid's generosity, Kentucky winners will be awarded an additional $3,000 scholarship.
