2014 Kentucky Youth of the Year

Established in 1947, Boys & Girls Clubs of America's Youth of the Year program recognizes Club members who, with the help of their Club, have met personal challenges head-on and despite the odds, have given back to their Club and community. Youth of the Year winners have demonstrated service to the Club, community and family; academic success; strong moral character; life goals; and poise and public speaking ability.

Five Club members competed in the Youth of the Year competition at the state capital in Frankfort, Kentucky on February 26, 2014. These high achievers personify the values and character of their hometown Club.

We are proud to announce the winners of the Kentucky Youth of the Year competition. Each winner receives a $1,000 scholarship from Tupperware Brands. The Kentucky Traditional Club Site Youth of the Year winner receives an additional $1,000 scholarship from the Kentucky Area Council. The Kentucky Military Club Youth of the Year receives an additional $1,000 scholarship from the Kentucky Department of Military Affairs.

During July 2014, both Kolby and Richard competed against other Boys & Girls Club members within the Midwest Region. If named regional winner, they will be awarded an additional $10,000 college scholarship from Tupperware Brands, the recognition program’s national sponsor. Five regional winners will advance to Washington, D.C., in September 2014, to compete for the title of BGCA’s National Youth of the Year. The National Youth of the Year will receive an additional scholarship of up to $50,000 from The Rick and Susan Goings Foundation and will have the opportunity to meet with the President of the United States in the White House.
